NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2016

August has arrived – need I say more…? I can’t remember if I mentioned that I’m popping up to Edinburgh in a week or so to do a few little shows? The Jewish Chronicle invited me to write an article for them – maybe it’s so they can’t be blamed. Jewish News have done a preview, as have Jewish Renaissance so the community is supporting me – thank G_d, in spite of the title. The reactions to which have been ‘interesting’ – I honestly wasn’t trying to shock or provoke it’s just true! ‘I was a penis at the Royal Festival Hall’. Nick Robinson said just before we went on air on the ‘Today Programme’ said – ‘Are you really doing a show called I was a penis at the Royal Festival Hall?’ Another journalist said ‘Why are you doing a show called I was a ….’
And My Mum just said ‘It’s embarrassing!’

If this is funny please let me know asap and I’ll include it in the show. I would love to see as many of you lovelies as possible in Edinburgh so here goes…

TUES 16th AUGUST at 10 AM – I will be standing fully dressed as a foam ‘you know what’ in the Royal Mile (outside Fringe Office) Pop by and take a look!

 NEWSLETTER JUNE 2016

It really is June – what happened to May May? I like May but it’s gone, so let’s welcome June. What’ s happening then? Firstly hello lovelies and thanks for still being there and if you’re new, hello and welcome to this my monthly musings, thanks so much for signing up.

SANDFORD ST MARTIN TRUST BROADCAST AWARDS 2016
LAMBETH PALACE – WED 8TH MAY
TONIGHT I will go to the palace, not Buckingham but it’s a start. Invitation only sorry, not boasting. I’ve been invited because I was one of the shortlisters for the radio category. Sadly I don’t have the mustard skirt suit but I”ll just have to grab something! Looking forward to the buzz, the schmooze and to listening to the keynote speaker – yes THE Archbishop of Canterbury will be opening the event. Apparently it’s at his house I mean his palace and there’s a historic library there. Maybe I’ll get a book out? – Really excited to find out who has won, particularly in the radio category.

MIDSUMMER MUSWELL 2016
25th June 2-6 pm
This is an outdoor festival happening in Muswell Hill, taking place at St James’s Square and St James’s Church so lots of St James’sss. It’s a fundraiser for WAVE and The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. I am compering the gig and am looking forward to welcoming live onto the stage a whole host of acts ranging from brass bands to dancers to ‘The Long String Hawkers…’? Yikes, that’s what it says on the set list!
Click here to find out more: https://muswellife.com/midsummer-muswell-2016/

THE STAND – NEWCASTLE Sun 3rd July 5.30pm
PENELOPE SOLOMON: I was a penis at the Royal Festival Hall
I know this is not happening strictly in June but it gives the Newcastleys time to book. Castles and Palaces… seems to be a bit of a theme this month. This is the first of an Edinburgh warm up and I’ve never performed in Newcastle before so am very excited about this gig.

That’s it for now must go and find something to wear – would a ball gown be appropriate? Look forward to checking in next month and giving you the low down on the palace vibes. July is going to be hot!

NEWSLETTER MAY 2016

It’s the month of May – pretty in pink and white, the trees are fluffy and sweet smelling. I wish I was. Hello lovely friendly readers if there are any? Yes you, thanks for joining and being a part of this my very first ever newsletter. I will be posting news hopefully once a month – So here goes…

SANDFORD ST MARTIN TRUST BROADCAST AWARDS 2016
I’ve just finished shortlisting the Sandford St Martin Trust Broadcast Awards – I was part of a team judging the radio category. Here’s my blog which tells you all about it.

The Awards Ceremony is happening very soon at Lambeth Palace – Yes I have to go to a real Palace, I might have to wear a Fuchsia Pink or Mustard Yellow skirt suit and get my hair cut into a bob. How exciting! And wear ‘clip clop’ shoes as my daughters call them.

OLD COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR – MUSEUM OF COMEDY
Then it will be my turn to be judged as I’m going in for ‘OLD COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR’. I know it’s madness isn’t it but it’ll be good practice for getting a tight 5 together. That means 5 minutes of pure stand-up not a group hug. Yikes!
24th May 7 pm at MUSEUM OF COMEDY
BOOK HERE

EDINBURGH FRINGE 2016 – I was a Penis – THE STAND 4.05 PM
16- 28th August 2016
I know this is not happening in May but I am returning to the Edinburgh Fringe with a new solo show called: PENELOPE SOLOMON: I was a penis at the Royal Festival Hall. My Mum says the title is embarrassing, but she doesn’t mind laughing at Peter kay’s inflatable one.

With 13 shows only it’s a good idea to book your tickets now.

LEICESTER SQUARE THEATRE – I was a Penis (sorry Mum) – Sat 16th July
